Headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, GSF has been a cornerstone in the furniture manufacturing industry for over 56 years. Founded by Rudy Trippler and Chris van der Vecht in Georgetown, Ontario, GSF initially operated under the name Georgetown Store Furniture. The company specialized in crafting jewelry stores and fragrance counters across North America.
Later relocating to Mississauga, the company began operating under the name GSF LTD. The company operated out of the same premises for over 50 years, working on a diverse range of project types, including high-end store fixtures, acoustic panels and corporate furniture.
Nick Friesl joined the company in 1986, bringing with him extensive experience from his tenure as head of production and engineering at REFF, an office furniture company. At REFF, Nick developed the innovative System REFF, a modular office furniture system. He later became a partner at GSF before his retirement in 2023.
Sukarnan Kirupalingam joined GSF in 2000. He holds a Bachelor of Architectural Science from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). Under his influence, GSF transitioned from manual drafting to computer-aided design, significantly improving the company's production capabilities.
Marcus Friesl joined GSF in 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Architectural Science from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Master of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). Marcus has played a pivotal role in integrating digital prototyping into the design process, utilizing advanced software to create detailed and accurate virtual models. This innovation has allowed GSF to refine their products before production, ensuring higher quality and precision.
